UEFN adds Star Wars assets

Epic Games updated the Fortnite Unreal Editor (UEFN) with official Star Wars assets — weapons, vehicles and templates — enabling creators to build Star Wars‑themed islands and minigames inside Fortnite. The release creates a new sandbox for game designers to prototype both gameplay systems and backend integrations. (techradar.com)

UEFN’s Star Wars toolset went live March 19, 2026, and Epic set May 1, 2026 as the date creators can publish Star Wars islands through the Creator Portal. (fortnite.com) Epic published four Star Wars UEFN starter islands—named Hoth, Tatooine, Nevarro and a space combat starter—and added two new flat-grid islands for rapid prototyping in Fortnite Creative. (fortnite.com) The asset pack surfaces character-specific lightsabers for Luke, Rey, Obi‑Wan and Darth Vader, Chewbacca’s Wookiee Bowcaster, multiple blaster variants, turbolasers and DF.9 turrets drawn from prior Fortnite seasons. (gamespot.com) New authoring systems include lightsaber customization, classic Force powers such as Push and Mind Trick, an NPC dialogue system, a Hero Device to swap players into named heroes, Niagara-powered VFX for hyperspace and dogfight moments, and tunable vehicle stats (for example, X‑Wing speed and firing rate). (polygon.com) Epic requires creators publishing Star Wars islands to follow the STAR WARS™ Brand Rules and to share 20% of any Engagement Payout from those islands with The Walt Disney Company. (fortnite.com) Fortnite’s Engagement Payout model places 40% of eligible net Item Shop revenue into an Engagement Pool that is distributed to enrolled islands via Epic’s Engagement Payout Formula, and published Star Wars islands are eligible to participate in that payout system. (dev.epicgames.com 1) (dev.epicgames.com 2) The STAR WARS Brand Rules explicitly forbid extracting or recreating Star Wars assets outside UEFN, restrict modifications to only the UEFN-provided customization options, and require compliance with Epic’s Developer Agreements and Creator Portal moderation for Discover placement and Epic’s Picks.
