Demolition Heads WWE Hall of Fame
The Undertaker announced the latest class of WWE Hall of Fame inductees, with the legendary duo Ax and Smash (Demolition) headlining. This induction recognizes their enduring legacy and impact on tag team wrestling during WWE's golden era.
Here comes the Ax, and here comes the Smasher, into the WWE Hall of Fame. The duo of Ax and Smash held the WWF World Tag Team Championships three times, with their first reign beginning at WrestleMania IV lasting a then-record 478 days. That record stood for nearly three decades before being broken by The New Day. Managed by the devious Mr. Fuji, Demolition was known for their aggressive, brawling style and finishing opponents with the "Demolition Decapitation". They engaged in memorable rivalries with many of the era's top teams, including The Hart Foundation, The Powers of Pain, The British Bulldogs, and The Brain Busters (Arn Anderson and Tully Blanchard), to whom they eventually lost their record-setting championship. During their third and final title reign, which they won at WrestleMania VI from The Colossal Connection (André the Giant and Haku), a third member, Crush (Brian Adams), was added to the team. This allowed the group to utilize the "Freebird Rule," defending the titles with any two of the three members. Often compared to the Road Warriors (Legion of Doom) for their face paint, spiked gear, and powerhouse style, a dream match between the two teams finally happened after L.O.D. signed with the WWF in 1990. The two superteams feuded, often joined by The Ultimate Warrior in six-man tag team matches. Demolition joins a 2026 class that also includes former WWE Chairwoman and Co-CEO Stephanie McMahon and multi-time world champion AJ Styles. The induction ceremony is scheduled to take place on Friday, April 17, at Dolby Live at Park MGM in Las Vegas as part of WrestleMania 42 weekend.
