Five New Restaurants Opening in SF
Five new restaurants, including the glamorous JouJou and The Big Four, are set to open in San Francisco this month. The new establishments are expected to bring a fresh wave of culinary innovation to the city's dining scene.
A glamorous French seafood restaurant, JouJou, is set to open on March 6th in the Design District. The venture is led by the team from the two-Michelin-starred Lazy Bear, promising a high-end à la carte dining experience with a raw bar and entrees like black cod à l'ananas. The kitchen will be headed by chef de cuisine Nick Vollono, formerly of Quince and Atelier Crenn. The iconic Big Four restaurant in the Huntington Hotel is making its return after a significant renovation. Celebrating its 50th anniversary, the Nob Hill establishment's redesign was envisioned by the acclaimed Ken Fulk, and the updated menu will feature a mix of the restaurant's classic dishes and new offerings. In SoMa, Hamburguesa Bar has opened at 78 Second Street, cultivating a retro, dive-bar atmosphere with faux wood-paneled walls and vintage beer signs. The menu features both thin smashburgers and larger charbroiled tavern burgers, with a deal that includes a burger, fries, and a 16-ounce beer for $23. The spot is owned by Lane Ford and Alvin Luna, who are also behind the pizzeria Pie Punks. The former Toast Eatery on Polk Street has been transformed into Goldenette, a classic diner. The restaurant is designed to be a cozy spot with warm booths, serving straightforward fare such as hash browns, eggs cooked to order, and milkshakes. From the mind of Michelin-starred chef Seth Stowaway of the now-closed Osito, Chicken Fried Palace has brought Southern diner classics to the Mission. Located in the former WesBurger space, the restaurant's menu includes staples like a gravy-covered chicken fried steak, buttermilk biscuits, and a patty melt.
