New Industrial Parks in Mexico

The first 20 industrial parks under Mexico’s “Plan México” have opened, representing over $711M in investment. These parks are expected to benefit Texas businesses engaged in manufacturing and logistics.

The "Plan México" initiative aims to boost nearshoring by creating industrial parks along the U.S.-Mexico border. This is intended to encourage companies to move production closer to North American markets. These new industrial parks are primarily located in the states of Tamaulipas, Nuevo León, and Coahuila. These locations provide strategic access to the U.S. via key ports of entry into Texas. The initial investment of $711 million has the potential to create thousands of jobs in Mexico. This influx of employment opportunities could lead to increased economic activity in the region and benefit businesses on both sides of the border. Texas businesses, particularly those in manufacturing and logistics, stand to gain from reduced transportation costs and quicker turnaround times. The proximity of these industrial parks could streamline supply chains and enhance competitiveness for San Antonio firms engaged in cross-border trade.
