O'Neale Buzzer-Beater Stuns Lakers

Royce O'Neale hit a buzzer-beater three-pointer to give the shorthanded Phoenix Suns a 113-110 win over the Los Angeles Lakers. The clutch shot capped off another frustrating loss for the Lakers, who have now lost three straight games with fans venting about issues with LeBron, Ayton, and others. Social media showed Lakers fans citing Grayson Allen's 8 threes and defensive breakdowns.

The Suns' victory was all the more improbable given their injury woes. Phoenix was without its top two scorers, All-Star guard Devin Booker (hip strain) and forward Dillon Brooks (fractured hand), who together average about 45 points per game. The team was also missing Jordan Goodwin, Haywood Highsmith, and Cole Anthony, forcing deep rotation players into significant minutes. Grayson Allen and Collin Gillespie stepped up to fill the offensive void for Phoenix. Allen scored 28 points, including 16 in a crucial third quarter where he hit four three-pointers. Gillespie, largely a bench player, exploded for 21 points, knocking down four three-pointers in the fourth quarter to help the Suns build a lead. The final minute of the game was a chaotic back-and-forth. After the Lakers erased a 12-point deficit to tie the game at 108 with a minute left, O'Neale made a layup. LeBron James then tied it again with a tip-in with just 22.7 seconds remaining, setting the stage for O'Neale's last-second heroics. For the Lakers, the loss marks their third consecutive defeat, creating frustration for a team that had previously been strong in late-game situations. The previous two losses included a blowout loss to the Boston Celtics and a one-point loss to the Orlando Magic. Luka Doncic's performance was a bright spot in a losing effort for Los Angeles. He finished the game with 41 points, eight rebounds, and eight assists, carrying the offensive load. However, it wasn't enough to overcome the Suns' hot shooting, as Phoenix made 22 of their 50 three-point attempts. The game-winning play saw Grayson Allen drive the lane and kick the ball to Collin Gillespie in the corner, who then made a quick pass to an open O'Neale for the decisive shot with 0.9 seconds on the clock. The Lakers had a final chance, but Austin Reaves missed an open corner three-pointer at the buzzer, sealing the win for the Suns.
