Ozzy Gets Brits Lifetime Award

Legendary heavy metal frontman Ozzy Osbourne will be honored with a Lifetime Achievement Award at the upcoming Brit Awards. The announcement recognizes his decades-long influence on rock and metal music and has been met with widespread acclaim from fans and industry peers. This caps off a career spanning over 50 years in music.

This posthumous honor comes after Osbourne's death on July 22, 2025, at the age of 76. The award will be celebrated with an all-star tribute performance of his 1991 hit "No More Tears," curated by his wife, Sharon Osbourne, and fronted by Robbie Williams. This isn't Osbourne's first encounter with the awards; he, along with his family Sharon, Kelly, and Jack, hosted the Brit Awards back in 2008. The 2026 ceremony marks the first time the event will be held outside of London, taking place at Manchester's Co-op Live arena. As a solo artist, Osbourne has sold over 100 million albums and was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame for his solo work in 2024, a separate honor from his band's induction. His final album, "Patient Number 9" (2022), won a Grammy for Best Rock Album. With Black Sabbath, the band credited with pioneering heavy metal, he was inducted into the UK Music Hall of Fame in 2005 and the US Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2006. The band received a Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award in 2019. Osbourne battled numerous health issues in his final years, including a 2019 Parkinson's diagnosis and sepsis. Despite doctors warning he could die, Osbourne was determined to perform one last time. He took to the stage with Black Sabbath at the "Back to the Beginning" concert in his hometown of Birmingham on July 5, 2025, just 17 days before he passed away.
