RGA Investment Advisors Names New Partner

Chicago's RGA Investment Advisors has promoted Ryan King to Partner. The move reflects ongoing shifts within the city's competitive wealth management and investment advisory landscape.

RGA Investment Advisors, a fee-only firm, was founded on the principle of providing personalized investment advice, a reaction against what its founders saw as an impersonal, product-driven approach at larger firms. The firm's co-founders, Jason Gilbert and Elliot Turner, are childhood friends from Great Neck, New York, who launched the firm in 2009 and re-launched it with a renewed focus in 2012. The firm operates with a "Growth at a Reasonable Price" (GARP) investment framework, focusing on competitively advantaged businesses with long-term potential. They manage moderately concentrated portfolios, typically targeting 25 total positions, with the top 10 holdings accounting for about half of the portfolio. As of late 2024, RGA managed approximately $86.5 million in discretionary assets and over $20.8 million in fund accounts. Ryan King's promotion to Partner is a full-circle moment, as he previously interned with RGA during the summers of 2015 and 2017. His background includes a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Michigan's Ross School of Business, with a focus on finance and technical operations. Before rejoining RGA as a Senior Investment Advisor and Analyst, King was a Founder and Principal at Pine Bluffs Capital Management LLC. There, he focused on deploying growth capital into developing regions across the Midwest. His career began at Harris Williams & Co. as an Investment Banking Analyst, where he advised on sell-side transactions ranging from $100 million to $700 million in the food, beverage, and pet industries.
