Arc Raiders Teases New 'Firefly' Enemy

Embark Studios, the developer of the extraction shooter *Arc Raiders*, has released a cryptic teaser for a new ARC enemy type named the “Firefly.” The reveal comes ahead of the game's new hurricane map condition, which is scheduled to debut on February 24.

- Embark Studios was founded in November 2018 by Patrick Söderlund, a former executive at EA and CEO of DICE, along with other veterans from the *Battlefield* franchise. The studio is a subsidiary of South Korean publisher Nexon. - *Arc Raiders* was initially revealed at The Game Awards in 2021 as a cooperative third-person shooter but later pivoted during development to become a PvPvE extraction shooter. - The studio's other major title, *The Finals*, is a free-to-play first-person shooter that launched in December 2023; its development progressed more quickly, leading to its release before *Arc Raiders*. - The game is set in a future where players, as "Raiders," return to a hostile Earth from an underground colony to scavenge for resources, fighting against robotic enemies known as ARC and other players. - *Arc Raiders* is built on Unreal Engine 5 and supports cross-platform play between PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC. - Due to the significant success of *Arc Raiders*, Embark Studios' CEO Patrick Söderlund was promoted to executive chairman of parent company Nexon in February 2026, giving him authority over the publisher's global creative strategy.
