Hamilton Training at Peak Intensity

Lewis Hamilton is ramping up training "past highest intensity" for his 2026 debut with Ferrari, while Cadillac F1 collaboration merchandise was spotted in Japan. NASCAR celebrated birthdays for Travis Kvapil's 50th (2003 Truck champion) and Dave Marcis' 85th (5-time Cup winner), plus Bill Elliott's 1992 Rockingham win where he lapped all but two cars.

Lewis Hamilton's move to Ferrari in 2026 is part of a multi-year contract reported to be worth around £50 million per season, making him one of the highest-paid drivers on the grid. The deal, which is believed to run until the end of the 2027 season, also includes a significant investment from Ferrari into Hamilton's charitable foundation, Mission 44. His intense training focuses on withstanding extreme G-forces through exercises targeting neck and core strength. To maintain peak physical condition at age 41, Hamilton's regimen has evolved to include more Pilates, yoga, and specific recovery methods like ice baths and cryotherapy, all while adhering to a vegan diet he adopted in 2018. The Cadillac Formula 1 Team will be the first new constructor to join the grid since 2016, expanding the field to 11 teams. For its debut, the team will use Ferrari power units before General Motors, Cadillac's parent company, introduces its own engine starting in 2029. The team has already announced its experienced driver lineup of Sergio Pérez and Valtteri Bottas. Bill Elliott's 1992 victory at North Carolina Motor Speedway was his first for legendary car owner Junior Johnson. The win was part of a remarkable four-race winning streak for Elliott, who dominated the early part of that season. Despite his five wins that year, he would ultimately lose the championship to Alan Kulwicki by a slim 10-point margin in the season finale. Dave Marcis, who turned 85, was a stalwart independent owner-driver who competed in 883 Cup races across five decades. He holds the record for the most Daytona 500 starts with 33 and finished second in the 1975 championship standings to Richard Petty. Travis Kvapil, the 2003 NASCAR Truck Series champion, also celebrated a birthday. The Wisconsin native was the Truck Series Rookie of the Year in 2001 and went on to make 271 starts in the premier Cup Series, earning one pole position.
