Kingman police are pairing a public meet-and-greet with a medication drop-off event on Saturday, April 25, in a four-hour program at department headquarters. (thebee.news) Police Chief Rusty Cooper invited residents to the Kingman Police Department at 2730 E. Andy Devine Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for coffee, questions and disposal of unused or outdated medications. (everythingkingman.com) The event is scheduled to run at the same time as the Drug Enforcement Administration’s National Prescription Drug Take Back Day, which the agency lists for April 25, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. nationwide. (deadiversion.usdoj.gov) The federal program is built around one basic problem: leftover prescription drugs can be misused at home, and the Drug Enforcement Administration says take-back sites offer a safe and responsible way to get rid of them. (deadiversion.usdoj.gov) Kingman police said residents who cannot make the April 25 event can still use year-round local options, including CVS Pharmacy at 3501 Stockton Hill Road and Walgreens at 1925 E. Andy Devine Ave. (thestandardnewspaper.online) Cooper has led the department since April 2020 after a career in Kingman policing that began in 1991, according to an Arizona Law Enforcement Accreditation Program assessment packet. (azleap.org) The Kingman Police Department describes itself as a full-service agency with 54 Arizona-certified officers and 15 civilian staff, with assignments that include patrol, investigations and a regional narcotics task force. (cityofkingman.gov) Drug enforcement has stayed visible in local policing. In a city survey presentation in late 2024, Cooper said Kingman had seen an increase in drug-related offenses and driving under the influence cases over a five-year comparison. (thestandardnewspaper.online) Saturday’s setup keeps both parts of the event in one place: residents can talk directly with the chief over refreshments and leave with old medications out of the house.
