Kathy Brown's House Music Comeback

House music legend Kathy Brown returns with 'I'm Gonna Make It' produced in collaboration with Revival House Project and Mousse T. The single blends Brown's classic vocals with contemporary house production, marking her first major release in years. Brown was a defining voice of 90s house music with hits like 'Turn Me Out.'

This new single arrives in the wake of Brown's recent and serious health battles. In late 2023, she was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer which subsequently spread to her brain, requiring an emergency operation and ongoing treatment. The house music community has since rallied around the iconic vocalist, offering significant support. In response to her diagnosis, a GoFundMe campaign was initiated by her daughter, Chanta Joyner, to help with the financial challenges of her treatment and inability to perform. Additionally, Toolroom Records released a charity single, 'Turn Me Deeper,' from Wh0, Mark Knight & James Hurr, featuring Brown's vocals, with all royalties and publishing earnings pledged to her treatment. The Revival House Project is a collective of producers and musicians, including Christopher Peyton, James F. Reynolds, and Paul Gardner, dedicated to reimagining classic songs as uplifting dance records. Their focus is on live instrumentation and showcasing talented vocalists, making the collaboration with a celebrated singer like Brown a natural fit. German DJ and producer Mousse T. brings his own significant legacy to the project. A pioneer of house music in Germany, he is globally recognized for his 1998 hit 'Horny '98' and for producing the Tom Jones smash 'Sex Bomb'. His production on "I'm Gonna Make It" combines modern house sounds with a timeless, soulful sensibility. Beyond her 90s hit 'Turn Me Out,' mentioned in the summary, Kathy Brown's influential catalog includes other classics that defined the era's vocal house sound. Tracks like "Happy People" and her collaboration on "Strings of Life (Stronger On My Own)" are staples in the genre. In a July 2025 podcast, Brown described her recovery as a "miracle," after having endured eleven brain seizures and losing the ability to walk. Her return to the stage included a performance at Hï Ibiza with the Revival House Project, and she has reportedly recorded four new tracks in London.
