Medfield is turning its past into a three-day public program this weekend, with tours, talks and open houses spread across town. (patch.com) Medfield History Weekend runs from Friday, April 24, through Sunday, April 26, 2026, and the Medfield Historical Society is leading the event with help from community partners. Needham Bank and Wasabi Asian Bistro & Bar are listed as presenting sponsors, and the Medfield Cultural Council is also supporting the weekend. (medfieldhistoricalsociety.org; myemail.constantcontact.com) The schedule includes a Friday kickoff reception at the Dwight-Derby House, Saturday and Sunday open-site programming, and ticketed events at multiple locations. Patch’s event calendar lists the kickoff for 6:30 p.m. Friday, with Saturday programming starting at 10 a.m. and Sunday programming starting at 11 a.m. (patch.com; patch.com) This year’s lineup adds a new historical marker tied to King Philip’s War, along with related talks by Town Historian Richard DeSorgher. Organizers are also promoting a luminaria walk, narrated Old Town Trolley rides, steeple and town clock tours, and a walking tour of the former Medfield State Hospital grounds. (medfieldhistoricalsociety.org; medfieldhistoricalsociety.org) Several events are built for families and casual visitors, not just local history buffs. Organizers list a children’s scavenger hunt at the library, open museum hours, and site visits designed for people to move between stops across town over the weekend. (medfieldhistoricalsociety.org; patch.com) At the Medfield Historical Society Museum, a reenactor portraying John Adams is scheduled to appear on Saturday, April 25, with advance ticketing required for timed slots. The museum will also remain open on Sunday, April 26, as part of the broader weekend program. (ticketsource.com) The trolley tour returns on Sunday, departing from the Hinkley Swim Pond and Playground parking lot for a narrated ride past well-known and lesser-known historic sites. TicketSource says the route also pairs with a stop at the Lowell Mason House near the departure point. (ticketsource.com) Friday’s luminaria program is also doubling as a fundraiser. TicketSource says each bag in the display will carry the name of a person significant to Medfield’s history, and proceeds will help maintain the town-owned clock in the 1789 Meetinghouse. (ticketsource.com) The event has become an annual spring fixture in Medfield after earlier editions in 2024 and 2025 featured similar townwide tours, exhibits and scavenger hunts. This year’s version keeps that format but expands the emphasis on site-specific programming and timed ticketing. (patch.com; patch.com; medfieldhistoricalsociety.org) For residents, the weekend is less a single festival than a map of Medfield’s historic buildings, institutions and stories, spread over three days and multiple stops. Organizers are directing visitors to the online schedule for tickets, time slots and site-by-site details before Friday’s opening events. (patch.com; medfieldhistoricalsociety.org)
