Keith Sets European 10km Record

Megan Keith set a new women's European 10km record in Castellon, shaving one second off Eilish McColgan's previous mark. The achievement is remarkable given Keith was sidelined for four months due to an ankle injury sustained at the 2024 Paris Olympics.

- The new European record of 30 minutes and 7 seconds was set on February 22, 2026, at the Facsa Castellon 10K in Spain. - This record was remarkably the third time the European women's 10km record had been broken in just seven weeks. - Before Keith, the record was briefly held by Eilish McColgan with a time of 30:08, and just before that by Belgium's Jana Van Lent with 30:10. - Keith's record-breaking performance came after a significant comeback from an injury that followed the 2024 Paris Olympics, a period where she felt she was at "ground zero". - In the same race in Castellon, the men's European 10km record was also broken by Yann Schrub of France with a time of 26:43. - Before focusing on running, Keith was a successful orienteering athlete, winning gold medals at the European and World Youth Championships. - The 23-year-old athlete will next compete in the New York Half Marathon on March 15, which will be her debut at that distance. - Keith also holds the European U23 record for the 10km, which she set in Valencia in January 2024 with a time of 31:22.
