Jill Scott Hits No. 1
Jill Scott's "Pressha" reached No. 1 on R&B radio, marking a major milestone for the celebrated singer and proving her continued relevance in the genre. The achievement comes as R&B radio continues to evolve and embrace both veteran and emerging artists.
"Pressha" is the second single from Jill Scott's sixth studio album, "To Whom This May Concern," which was released on February 13, 2026. This album is Scott's first full-length project in over a decade and debuted at No. 4 on Billboard's Top R&B Album chart. The track was co-produced by Scott herself, along with longtime collaborator Adam Blackstone and Vincent "VT" Tolan. Blackstone has a history with Scott dating back to her 2007 album "The Real Thing: Words and Sounds Vol. 3." Lyrically, "Pressha" explores the societal pressures to conform to certain standards of beauty and status. Scott explained to The Guardian that the song is about people choosing an "aesthetic over character or consistency." The album "To Whom This May Concern" features a diverse range of guest artists, including Ab-Soul, Tierra Whack, Too $hort, and J.I.D. Producers on the album include DJ Premier, Camper, and Trombone Shorty. The single's success comes amid a competitive R&B radio landscape. "Pressha" took the top spot from Kehlani's "Folded". On the Billboard Adult R&B Airplay chart, "Pressha" currently sits at No. 2, just behind "Folded." A music video for "Pressha" was released, featuring cameos from actors Tyler Lepley, Tasha Smith, and Niecy Nash-Betts. The video is described as a "visual poem" about being privately desired but not publicly acknowledged.
