Dig Inn Center City Opens
Dig Inn Center City launches March 13 as fast-casual with a spring menu and community givebacks. The location brings healthy, customizable bowls and salads to downtown with a focus on local sourcing.
The New York-founded chain, which first opened in 2011, has been steadily expanding its presence in the Philadelphia region. This Center City location marks the company's fifth area restaurant, following openings in Rittenhouse, University City, Ardmore, and most recently, Jenkintown in September 2025. Dig Inn's model emphasizes direct partnerships with local and regional farms. For its Philadelphia-area restaurants, the company sources ingredients from purveyors like Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative, Chiques Roc Organics, and Kennett Mushrooms. This focus on sourcing allows for a seasonal menu that is cooked from scratch in each location's kitchen, which is designed without freezers or microwaves. The company has a history of rebranding, operating as "Dig" for several years before announcing in June 2025 that it would return to its original "Dig Inn" name, citing customer feedback and a desire to evoke the brand's roots. This change is being implemented across its now 37 locations nationwide. True to its community engagement model, the Center City opening will support a local cause. Dig Inn will donate 50% of its opening day sales to Thomas Jefferson University's Ramily Market Pantry, which addresses food insecurity among students. This follows a similar pattern from their Jenkintown opening, where 100% of launch day sales went to the Jenkintown Food Cupboard. Ahead of the official opening, the restaurant held a two-day food drive on March 11 and 12. Community members were invited to bring non-perishable food items in exchange for a complimentary bowl, with all donations going directly to the Ramily Market Pantry.
