Coachella: Weekend 2 logistics

Coachella Weekend 2 is scheduled for April 17–19 in Indio, California, with most festival days kicking off around 1:00 p.m. PT and music running until about 1:00 a.m. on Friday and Saturday and until midnight on Sunday. (indianeagle.com) (travelpirates.com)

Coachella’s second 2026 weekend starts Friday, April 17, and the biggest logistics pinch points are arrival timing, road closures, and how people get in and out of Indio. (coachella.com) The festival says general parking opens at 11 a.m. Friday through Sunday, and the venue opens at about 1 p.m. each day. Coachella is pushing shuttles as its preferred transportation option and says wristband registration in the mobile app is required. (coachella.com) For campers, Coachella’s onsite options include car camping, tent camping, and Lake Eldorado lodging, and the 2026 site adds a new group car camping setup in Lot 5A that lets groups arrive separately. The festival also says preferred, front-row preferred, and powered car camping spots can be entered “at your leisure,” instead of requiring an early rush for placement. (coachella.com) Indio has already put its festival traffic plan in place, with Avenue 50 between Monroe Street and Madison Avenue closed since March 23 and scheduled to stay closed until May 4. The city says the main congestion days for Coachella’s second weekend run April 17 through April 20 on southbound approaches from Interstate 10 and around Jefferson, Washington, Monroe, Avenue 48, and Highway 111. (indio.org) From each festival Friday through Monday, Indio says Avenue 49 between Hjorth Street and Monroe Street, Avenue 50 between Madison Street and Jackson Street, Hjorth Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 50, and Madison Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 52 will be closed. The city also says more than 40,000 campers are expected to leave the area on the Monday after each festival weekend. (indio.org) Pickup rules are also narrow around the Empire Polo Club. Indio says Uber pickup is set for Avenue 49 and Monroe Street, while friends, family, and taxi drop-off and pickup are assigned to Avenue 52 and Madison Street, and pedestrians are barred from Monroe Street between Avenue 49 and Avenue 52 and from Madison Street between Avenue 50 and Avenue 52. (indio.org) Air travel is part of the squeeze this week too. Palm Springs International Airport said on April 9 that Coachella brings one of its busiest travel periods of the year, with thousands of festivalgoers flying in and a second wave of heavy departures expected early next week. (kesq.com) Airport officials said they added staffing and do not expect major Transportation Security Administration checkpoint delays, but they told travelers to allow extra time because roads and terminals get busier during peak arrival and departure windows. (kesq.com) The practical play for Weekend 2 is straightforward: register the wristband before arrival, pick a designated entry plan, and build extra time around Indio’s April 17 to April 20 traffic controls. The festival gates may open around 1 p.m., but the trip to them starts earlier. (coachella.com)
