A former Halo Studios art director has publicly accused the Microsoft-owned Halo team of harassment, retaliation and internal misconduct spanning 2024 and 2025. (gamedeveloper.com) Glenn Israel, who worked on Halo for 17 years and left the studio in October 2025, said in LinkedIn posts that he witnessed or experienced “blacklisting, fraud, rampant favoritism” and “multiple harassment campaigns” between January 2024 and June 2025. (insider-gaming.com) Game Developer reported that other current and former Halo Studios employees replied publicly with similar claims, including allegations that complaints about bullying and harassment were ignored or mishandled inside the studio. (gamedeveloper.com) Israel said he filed complaints with human resources in June 2025 and later alleged that a Microsoft representative warned him against escalating the matter, which he described as retaliation. (destructoid.com) Microsoft, through Xbox, gave outlets a brief response: “Out of respect we don’t publicly discuss individual employee issues,” while adding that it takes claims from current and former employees seriously. (gameranx.com) The allegations land as Halo Studios is still in the middle of a broader reset. In October 2024, 343 Industries changed its name to Halo Studios and said future Halo games would move to Unreal Engine 5 instead of the Slipspace technology used on Halo Infinite. (news.xbox.com) That reset followed years of turbulence around Halo Infinite, including Microsoft’s 2023 layoffs, which Polygon and other outlets reported hit 343 Industries as the studio struggled to keep up with planned updates and leadership changes. (polygon.com) No regulator or court has validated Israel’s claims, and Microsoft has not publicly addressed the specific allegations one by one. For now, the dispute is unfolding through employee statements, trade press reporting and a new round of scrutiny on the studio behind Halo. (gamedeveloper.com)
