Keely Hodgkinson's Body Transformation

Olympic champion Keely Hodgkinson has undergone a dramatic body transformation as she enters a "fresh era" in her athletic career. Her journey showcases the impact of targeted gym work and dedication, inspiring many in the athletic community with her physical evolution.

The recent shift in Keely Hodgkinson's physique is a calculated move to prevent injuries after a hamstring tear disrupted her 2025 season. This strategic change saw her increase her weight to 60kg, up from 54kg during the Paris Olympics, and add cycling to her training regimen. The adjustment is aimed at building resilience as she targets the longest-standing record in athletics. This physical evolution is part of a broader training philosophy that mirrors that of a sprinter, prioritizing speed and high-quality sessions over long-distance mileage. Her coaches, Trevor Painter and Jenny Meadows, have guided her with this unconventional approach, which includes a significant amount of cross-training to limit stress on her feet. Under the guidance of Painter and Meadows at the M11 Track Club, Hodgkinson has achieved significant milestones, including the 800m gold at the 2024 Paris Olympics and a silver at the Tokyo 2020 Games. Painter, who won the 2024 World Athletics Coaching Achievement Award, has been instrumental in her rise from a junior athlete to a global champion. Her "fresh era" has already seen remarkable success in early 2026. In February, she shattered the nearly 24-year-old women's indoor 800m world record, clocking a time of 1:54.87. This was followed by a new personal best in the 400m, demonstrating her enhanced speed. With her recent injury setbacks addressed and a new physical foundation, Hodgkinson has openly stated her next major goal: breaking the outdoor 800m world record. The current record of 1:53.28 was set by Jarmila Kratochvilova in 1983, making it the oldest world record in track athletics.
