Josh Hader (Astros) is being monitored, alongside Hunter Greene, Corbin Carroll, and Francisco Lindor, who have all appeared on the latest injury report [https://www.mlb.com/news/baseball-injury-updates].
Josh Hader will start the season on the injured list for the Houston Astros due to biceps tendinitis. The injury follows a capsule strain in his shoulder that sidelined him for the final seven weeks of the 2025 season. Manager Joe Espada said Hader reported feeling good after his first bullpen session, but the team is taking a cautious approach. Bryan Abreu is likely to fill in as closer while Hader is out. Hunter Greene of the Cincinnati Reds is set to undergo arthroscopic surgery to remove bone chips from his right elbow and is expected to be out until July. The elbow issue dates back to last season, with an MRI revealing the need for surgery. Greene had an injection before spring training, but it didn't resolve the issue. In Greene's absence, the Reds will have a significant void in their rotation. Diamondbacks outfielder Corbin Carroll is recovering from a broken hamate bone in his right hand and had surgery on February 11. He is expected to miss the World Baseball Classic. Carroll has begun taking at-bats in spring training games as a designated hitter. Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo said that he "would not be surprised" if Carroll is ready by Opening Day. Mets shortstop Francisco Lindor is recovering from a stress reaction in his left hamate bone and had surgery two weeks ago. Manager Carlos Mendoza said Lindor is close to being cleared to take full batting practice. Lindor has been participating in fielding drills and minor league games. The Mets are optimistic that Lindor will be ready for Opening Day.
