SiteGround Launches AI App Builder for SMBs
Web hosting company SiteGround has launched Coderick AI, a new tool aimed at making custom software development accessible for small businesses. The platform is designed to remove the technical and financial hurdles that typically prevent small companies from building their own applications.
Custom software development for small businesses can be prohibitively expensive, with average project costs ranging from $75,000 to over $100,000. This financial barrier often prevents smaller companies from creating the custom tools they need. SiteGround, the company behind Coderick AI, was founded in Bulgaria in 2004 and now hosts more than 3 million domains worldwide. The firm migrated its infrastructure to Google Cloud in 2020, using it as the foundation for its hosting services. The new platform is part of a trend called "vibe coding," where users describe their desired application in plain language. Coderick AI then interprets these natural language prompts to generate the application's code, backend logic, and user interface. Unlike many AI code generators that leave users to figure out deployment, Coderick integrates the entire process. Publishing an app automatically includes hosting, database setup, version control, and security configurations on SiteGround's infrastructure. This launch positions SiteGround to compete with established no-code and low-code platforms like Bubble, Softr, and AppyPie, which also cater to non-technical users. The move signals a broader shift in the web hosting industry, with providers evolving from passive infrastructure sellers to integrated platforms where users can build and launch products in a single, unified workflow.
