Rockwell Automation to Digitize DLG Group's Maintenance Operations

Rockwell Automation announced that Danish agricultural company DLG Group is deploying its Fiix CMMS software to digitize maintenance management. The goal of the deployment is to boost maintenance productivity and achieve a 10% reduction in equipment downtime. The project is an application of industrial IoT for predictive and optimized maintenance in large-scale operations.

- The DLG Group is a cooperative owned by 26,000 Danish farmers, with operations spanning 18 countries and approximately 7,000 employees. In 2023, the company reported a turnover of DKK 67.4 billion. - DLG operates its own feed factories, which utilize industrial machinery such as crushers, mixers, granulators, and automated feeding systems. The Fiix CMMS will be used to manage the maintenance of this equipment. - Rockwell Automation's Fiix software is an AI-enabled CMMS designed to streamline maintenance operations by managing work orders, tracking parts and supplies, and providing analytics and reporting. It can be accessed via a mobile app, allowing for remote management of maintenance tasks. - A key feature of the Fiix system is its ability to integrate with other business systems, like Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) software, to share data on inventory levels and purchase orders. - The deployment is an example of applying Industrial IoT for predictive maintenance; IoT devices and sensors can monitor equipment in real-time, collecting data on factors like temperature and vibration to predict potential failures before they occur. - In a similar application within the food and beverage industry, a supplier of dried egg products, Perth County Ingredients, used Fiix CMMS to cut reactive maintenance by 54% and reduce annual maintenance costs by over $40,000. - Beyond the 10% downtime reduction, DLG is using the data collected by the Fiix system to develop and share new maintenance best practices across its various sites, breaking down knowledge silos. - The implementation at DLG is part of a broader trend of digitizing agricultural processes to improve efficiency. This includes using technology for process automation, environmental monitoring, and precision pest control.
