Thompson Blazes 4.26 at Combine

Wide receiver Brenen Thompson clocked the fastest 40-yard dash at 4.26 seconds at the 2026 NFL Combine. Kenyon Sadiq posted record-breaking stats leading Friday's winners alongside Eli Stowers, while LSU's Zavion Thomas ran a blistering 4.28 to boost his draft stock.

While Brenen Thompson's 4.26 40-yard dash electrified the 2026 NFL Combine, it fell just short of the all-time record. Texas A&M's Xavier Worthy continues to hold that title with his blistering 4.21-second run in 2024, which broke a seven-year record held by John Ross (4.22). Thompson's time places him among elite company, tying him with players like Dri Archer and Riq Woolen for one of the fastest times ever recorded at the combine. Zavion Thomas's 4.28 also turned heads, as only a handful of players have broken the 4.30 barrier since 2013. The 2026 Combine will be remembered as the fastest in history, with seven of the eight position groups setting new records for average 40-yard dash times. This includes new benchmarks for wide receivers (4.44), running backs (4.45), and defensive backs (4.44). Oregon's Kenyon Sadiq established a new benchmark for tight ends, running a record 4.39-second 40-yard dash at 6-foot-3 and 241 pounds. His performance likely solidified his status as the top tight end prospect in the draft. Not to be outdone by the speedsters, Vanderbilt tight end Eli Stowers showcased explosive power. The 6-foot-4, 239-pound athlete set a new Combine record with a staggering 45.5-inch vertical jump, adding to his impressive 4.51-second 40-yard dash and 11-foot-3 broad jump.
