Rome Marathon ran today

Acea Run Rome The Marathon 2026 took place today as a World Athletics Road Race Label Elite event, with live results and a public leaderboard available for fans and participants (watchathletics.com). The event kept elite and amateur fields on the streets of Rome with up‑to‑the‑minute timing and tracking for followers (watchathletics.com).

Organizers said this year’s Acea Run Rome drew a record field of roughly 36,000 participants from about 130 countries, a number announced at the event presentation at Sala della Protomoteca. Race officials set the mass start on Via dei Fori Imperiali at 08:10 CET and routed the 42.195 km course through historic sites with the finish in the Circo Massimo. The elite start list featured 16 men and 12 women, with pre-race favorites including defending winner Robert Ngeno, former course-record holder Asbel Rutto and three-time champion Betty Chepkwony. On-course conditions were cool and fairly still at race time, with reported temperatures near 8.1°C, partly cloudy skies, about 80% humidity and a light NE breeze around 6.5 kph. Organizers placed the Expo Village inside the Circo Massimo for the first time and ran an event-wide World Water Day campaign under Acea’s #runforwater banner. Complete finisher lists and official timing were published on the event’s results platform and timing partner pages after the race; the ENDU results page carries the full placings and splits.
