Laredo Students Clean Central Park
Dozens of students volunteered to clean up North Central Park after the Laredo Kite Festival [https://www.kgns.tv/2026/03/12/students-volunteer-clean-up-north-central-park-after-laredo-kite-festival/].
The cleanup was organized by Keep Laredo Beautiful as part of their "Kite Strings & Clean Up Things" event. The effort, which took place from 9:30-11:30 a.m. on March 12, aimed to restore the park after the Laredo Kite Festival. Check-in began at 9 a.m. at North Central Park, located at 1903 Loreto Drive. Keep Laredo Beautiful invited volunteers to help maintain the park's cleanliness following the high-traffic Kite Festival, which included kite-flying, food vendors, and other activities. Volunteers concentrated on cleaning the main green space that is part of the park's extensive trail system. The 16th Annual Spring Break Kite Festival included a kite contest with categories like "Smallest Kite," "Most Unusual Kite," and "Most Environmentally Friendly Kite". There was also a "Best Illuminated Kite" contest. The festival was held on March 11 and also featured the Guerra Community Talent Stage.
