Pokémon GO’s Steeled Resolve event starts Tuesday, April 28, and it adds Orthworm to the game for the first time. (pokemongo.com) Niantic says the event runs from 10:00 a.m. local time on April 28 through 8:00 p.m. local time on May 4, 2026. Orthworm, the Paldea-region Earthworm Pokémon, can also appear as a shiny from its debut. (pokemongo.com) Orthworm is not listed as a wild spawn in the official event post. Instead, it is slated for three-star raids, while Honedge, Shieldon, and Beldum fill the one-star raid pool. (pokemongo.com) (leekduck.com) The event also reopens access to Shiny Meltan, which still depends on the Mystery Box item rather than standard wild encounters. Players get a Mystery Box by sending a Pokémon from Pokémon GO to Pokémon HOME or to Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! or Let’s Go, Eevee! on Nintendo Switch. (pokemongo.com) Niantic is also using the event to push its GO Pass system. Players automatically receive GO Pass: Steeled Resolve – Taken Over on April 28 and can earn GO Points for rewards through May 4. (pokemongo.com) From May 2 at 12:00 a.m. through May 4 at 7:59 p.m. local time, Niantic says there will be no daily cap on GO Points earned. The company is also selling a GO Pass Deluxe for $4.99 and a GO Pass Deluxe + 6 Ranks option for $6.99. (pokemongo.com) (leekduck.com) Outside raids, the event rotates in steel-themed wild spawns including Magnemite, Aron, Ferroseed, and, for luckier players, Pawniard. Field Research encounters include Magnemite, Pineco, Nosepass, Bronzor, Drilbur, Ferroseed, Beldum, and Shieldon. (pokemongo.com) Rewards from the GO Pass do not stay open indefinitely. Niantic says unlocked pass rewards expire on Wednesday, May 6, at 7:59 p.m. local time, two days after the event ends. (pokemongo.com) So the headline for players this week is narrow but clear: Orthworm arrives on April 28, but catching one will mean raiding, not just walking into the nearest spawn cluster.
