Colburn Orchestra Holds Performance in LA

The Colburn Orchestra is hosting a performance titled "Front and Center: Emerging Artists" at Zipper Hall in Los Angeles. The event is scheduled for 7:00 PM on February 27th. The performance is being promoted by TeenTix LA, an organization that facilitates arts access for teenagers.

The Colburn Orchestra is the flagship ensemble of the Colburn Conservatory of Music, a renowned performing arts school in Los Angeles. The orchestra, now in its 21st season and led by Music Director Yehuda Gilad, provides collegiate-level training for classical musicians and performs in major venues throughout Southern California. Its musicians are considered some of the best young classical performers in the world. Tonight's performance is part of a series that spotlights the next generation of virtuoso soloists. The concert will be conducted by Salonen Fellows Mert Yalniz and Aleksandra Melaniuk and will feature student soloists performing a varied program of concerto works by Mozart, Walton, Dvořák, Bottesini, and Séjourné. The venue, Zipper Hall, is a 430-seat concert hall located on the Colburn School's campus in downtown Los Angeles, across from The Broad museum. Named after composer and conductor Herbert Zipper, a key figure in the school's development, it is known for its excellent acoustics and hosts a variety of distinguished performers and ensembles, including the Los Angeles Chamber Orchestra. TeenTix LA, which is promoting the event, is a non-profit organization dedicated to making the arts more accessible to teenagers. An affiliate of the original Seattle-based TeenTix, the LA chapter was soft-launched in 2021 and allows teens aged 13-19 to purchase $5 day-of-show tickets at partner organizations. To date, over 3,000 teenagers have signed up for the free pass.
