GEEKOM Launches New $600 Mini PC

GEEKOM has launched its A5 Pro 2026 Edition, aiming to set a new performance benchmark for mini PCs under $600. The company is marketing the compact desktop as a blend of high performance for daily tasks and solid build quality.

The new A5 Pro is powered by an AMD Ryzen 5 7530U processor, a 6-core, 12-thread chip that can reach speeds of up to 4.5GHz. This specific processor is part of AMD's "Barcelo" refresh and is based on the Zen 3 microarchitecture, manufactured using a 7nm process. Interestingly, this represents a shift from the previous GEEKOM A5 model, which housed a Ryzen 7 5800H. While the 7530U is a newer chip, benchmarks indicate a 15% to 20% decrease in performance compared to the older Ryzen 7 model. The 2026 Edition also comes standard with 16GB of RAM, a reduction from the 32GB in its predecessor, though it remains upgradeable to 64GB. Despite its compact, roughly 4x4-inch metal chassis, the A5 Pro 2026 Edition offers extensive connectivity. It includes dual HDMI 2.0 ports and two USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C ports, allowing it to drive up to four displays simultaneously at 8K resolution. The device also features a 2.5GbE LAN port, Wi-Fi 6, Bluetooth 5.2, and an SD card reader. GEEKOM, founded in Taiwan in 2003, has been focusing on the mini PC market since 2010. The company, now based in Shenzhen, has expanded globally and offers a range of mini PCs with both Intel and AMD processors. The launch comes as the mini PC market is experiencing significant growth, with a projected value of over $26 billion in 2026. This surge is largely driven by the rise of remote and hybrid work, which has increased demand for compact, energy-efficient, and capable computing solutions that take up minimal desk space.
