Joe Rogan Returns to UFC
Joe Rogan is set to return to the commentary booth for UFC 326, joining a broadcast team featuring three former champions. In lightweight division news, the UFC has benched highly ranked contender Ian Garry while planning a "much bigger" fight for the returning Islam Makhachev.
Joe Rogan's commentary schedule is intentionally limited; his UFC contract only requires him to work on pay-per-view events located in the United States, leading him to miss all international cards. A fixture of the UFC since starting as a backstage interviewer in 1997, Rogan's loyalty to president Dana White is written into his contract. The deal includes a clause that allows him to leave the promotion if White is no longer in charge. The UFC 326 event will be held on March 7, 2026, at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas. The card is headlined by Max Holloway and Charles Oliveira, who will compete for the symbolic "BMF" (Baddest Motherf*****) title in a rematch of their 2015 bout. Their first encounter ended abruptly in the first round after Oliveira suffered an unusual esophagus injury, rendering him unable to continue. Islam Makhachev, the former lightweight champion, captured the welterweight title in his last fight at UFC 322 by defeating Jack Della Maddalena. He currently holds a professional record of 28 wins and one loss. The sidelined Ian Garry is the No. 2 contender in the welterweight division as of February 2026 and is coming off a victory over former title challenger Belal Muhammad in November 2025. Makhachev's manager, Ali Abdelaziz, has publicly stated that Garry is not next in line for a title shot. Abdelaziz claims the promotion is planning a "much bigger" fight for the two-division champion, fueling speculation about a potential bout with former welterweight king Kamaru Usman.
