Grand Teton Trail Closure

Heads up, climbers: Grand Teton National Park is closing the Death Canyon Trailhead ALL summer 2026 Grand Teton National Park to close Death Canyon Trailhead for summer 2026.

The closure is due to the reconstruction of the Death Canyon Road bridge. The bridge was originally built in the 1960s and has reached the end of its lifespan. The project will replace the existing single-lane bridge with a new two-lane bridge. This will improve access for emergency vehicles and other large vehicles. The closure will affect access to popular trails such as Death Canyon Shelf, Static Peak Divide, and the Teton Crest Trail. Hikers should plan accordingly and consider alternative routes.
