Acwa Taps Air Products Vet as New CEO
Energy and water company Acwa has named Dr. Samir J. Serhan its new CEO, effective immediately. Dr. Serhan, formerly Chief Operating Officer of US-based Air Products, takes over from Marco Arcelli, who led the company since March 2023 and will remain as an advisor.
Dr. Serhan's previous role as COO of Air Products saw him oversee the execution of the largest and most complex projects in the company's history. He also held full profit and loss responsibility for the Americas, which represented 45% of the company's total sales in fiscal 2019. His expertise directly aligns with Acwa Power's strategic focus on large-scale green hydrogen projects. The Saudi-based company is a key partner in the $8.4 billion NEOM Green Hydrogen Company and is developing the Yanbu Green Hydrogen Hub, which is planned to be twice the size of the NEOM project.
