Slay The Spire 2 Fixes Bugs
The popular roguelike deckbuilder Slay The Spire 2 has received a major update, fixing multiplayer bugs—including a relic that previously enabled infinite block. The game's early access launch has seen over half a million concurrent players, cementing its status among indie hits.
The original *Slay the Spire*, released in 2019 after a period in early access, is widely credited with popularizing the roguelike deck-builder genre. It sold over 1.5 million copies by March 2019 and received critical acclaim for its design. Developer Mega Crit, an indie studio, decided to create a sequel to their hit game based on a 50/50 coin flip. For the new game, the team switched from the Unity engine, used for the original, to the Godot Engine. *Slay the Spire 2* launched on Steam for PC, macOS, and Linux on March 5, 2026. The early access price is set at $24.99, which the developers have stated will increase when the full version is released. A major new feature setting the sequel apart is a four-player cooperative mode. The game also introduces two new playable characters, The Necrobinder and The Regent, joining three returning characters from the first game. The game's early access launch saw a peak of 574,638 concurrent players on Steam by its first weekend. Within its first 24 hours, it had already surpassed 430,000 concurrent players, outperforming several major studio releases. Mega Crit anticipates the early access period will last for one to two years. During this time, they plan to add more content, including a "true ending" and additional game modes, while using player feedback to balance the game.
