Advanced Plasma Exchange Therapy Launches in LA

A new clinic offering advanced therapeutic plasma exchange (TPE) has launched in Beverly Hills. The physician-led initiative aims to provide personalized toxin reduction and biomarker-driven care, responding to what it calls rising environmental health concerns in Southern California.

The new Beverly Hills service is a partnership between MDLifespan, a medical technology company, and Cenegenics Beverly Hills, a performance health center. The collaboration introduces "Advanced Serial Therapeutic Plasma Exchange (TPE)" protocols, which involve structured, multi-session treatments led by physicians. This approach differs from a single intervention by using a repeatable, protocol-driven model. Each treatment plan begins with advanced diagnostics to measure a patient's toxin burden and key biomarkers, with progress tracked through ongoing lab data. Therapeutic plasma exchange has been a trusted medical procedure since the 1950s for treating autoimmune and neurological disorders. The process, often likened to an "oil change" for the body, involves removing a patient's plasma, separating the red and white blood cells which are returned to the body, and replacing the removed plasma with a clean, albumin-based solution. The launch comes as Southern California faces a variety of environmental health threats. Regional pollution sources include industrial waste, which can lead to heavy metals like lead and mercury in waterways, and diesel emissions from the logistics industry. Recent wildfires have also exposed millions of people to toxins, including dangerous particles, heavy metals, and chemicals like PFAS. The Beverly Hills clinic is part of a larger trend of TPE being offered for wellness and longevity purposes, often positioned as a way to remove inflammatory proteins and environmental toxins. Other local providers like Next Health and Beverly Hills Plastic Surgery Group also offer TPE for rejuvenation and detoxification. This "off-label" use of TPE is gaining traction in the longevity market, with companies like Circulate Health partnering with clinics to offer the service for as much as $8,000 to $10,000 per session. Proponents like entrepreneur Bryan Johnson have publicly touted the procedure for its claimed anti-aging and detoxification benefits.
