Ethereum staking at record

- Ethereum's staking pool just reached a new high, tightening the liquid supply on the network. - The network now has about 38.9 million ETH staked, roughly a third of circulating supply. - That backdrop, plus the upcoming Pectra upgrade aimed at account abstraction and staking efficiency, reinforces ETH's protocol-level narrative (criptonoticias.com ).

Ethereum now has about 38.9 million ETH locked in staking, the highest level on record and roughly a third of supply. (beaconcha.in) Staking is Ethereum’s version of a security deposit: users lock up ETH to help run the network and earn rewards in return. Ethereum.org says more staked ETH raises the cost of attacking the chain because an attacker would need to control a majority of validators. (ethereum.org) Beaconcha.in’s staking chart shows the total has climbed to just under 39 million ETH in April 2026. Beaconcha.in’s supply chart shows total Ether supply a little above 120 million, which puts the staked share at about 32%. (beaconcha.in ) That leaves less ETH immediately available to trade, lend or use elsewhere on-chain. Ultra Sound Money tracks Ethereum’s supply mechanics separately and shows staking as a major input into how much ETH is effectively tied up while fee burns and issuance reshape supply over time. (ultrasound.money )) The validator queue adds another clue about demand. Validatorqueue.com says Ethereum limits how quickly new stake can enter or leave, so waiting lines form when more ETH is trying to stake or unstake than the protocol can process at once. (validatorqueue.com) The upgrade tied to this story is no longer just upcoming on the roadmap. Ethereum.org lists Pectra as having activated on May 7, 2025, after Dencun in March 2024, with Fusaka following on December 3, 2025. (ethereum.org ) Ethereum.org says Pectra bundled changes to both Ethereum’s execution and consensus layers. The upgrade added smart-contract-like features to regular wallets, raised the maximum effective balance for validators, and increased blob capacity for rollups. (ethereum.org )) Account abstraction is the wallet piece of that change. Ethereum.org says it lets wallets behave more like programmable apps, including batching transactions, sponsoring fees and improving recovery options that standard externally owned accounts did not support cleanly. (ethereum.org) For validators, the staking change reduced the need to split large positions across many 32-ETH validators. Ethereum.org says Pectra lets stakers use an arbitrary amount above the 32 ETH minimum and earn rewards on each additional 1 ETH, which simplifies operations for larger operators. (ethereum.org )) The picture now is a network with more ETH locked, wallet features broadened after Pectra, and validator mechanics made less cumbersome. Record staking does not by itself set price, but it does mean a larger share of Ethereum is committed to securing the chain instead of sitting liquid. (beaconcha.in ))
