Florida Extends Win Streak to 11
No. 5 Florida extended its win streak to 11 games with an 84-77 victory over Kentucky, closing the regular season in dominant fashion. The Gators' balanced attack and late-game poise have them peaking at just the right time for a run at the SEC title and a deep NCAA tournament push.
The victory in Lexington was just the 13th win for the Gators in the history of the series at Rupp Arena. It also secured the first regular-season sweep of the Wildcats for Florida since 2018. Impressively, Florida never trailed Kentucky in the 80 minutes of basketball played between the two teams this season. Junior forward Thomas Haugh was instrumental in the latest win, returning from injury to score 20 points and grab nine rebounds. Throughout the 11-game tear, the Gators have outscored their opponents by an average of 23.2 points per game. The Gators' dominance extends across the court. They lead the nation in rebounding margin (+14.8), offensive rebounds per game (16.0), and total rebounds per game (45.7). This prowess on the boards has been a key factor in their late-season surge. With the regular season concluded, Florida (25-6, 16-2 SEC) heads to the SEC Tournament in Nashville as the No. 1 seed. This gives them a double bye into the quarterfinals, where they will play on Friday. Their 16 conference wins are the second-most in the program's history, only trailing the 18-0 team from 2014.
