Navarrete Unifies Super-Featherweight Titles
Emanuel Navarrete unified the super-featherweight titles with a stoppage win over Nunez, cementing his status as one of the division's top fighters. Rising prospect Curmel Moton also made headlines, scoring a second-round TKO of Wilfredo Flores on the Manny Pacquiao Promotions card.
Emanuel "Vaquero" Navarrete unified the WBO and IBF super-featherweight titles in the all-Mexican clash against Eduardo Nunez. The championship bout took place at the Desert Diamond Arena in Glendale, Arizona, making it the first time either fighter has held unified world champion status. This victory marks a significant moment for Navarrete, who is already a three-division world champion. He previously held the WBO junior featherweight title from 2018 to 2020 and the WBO featherweight belt from 2020 to 2023. The win improves Navarrete's professional record to 40 wins, 2 losses, and 1 draw. It also gets him back on track after a challenging recent run that included a split decision loss to Denys Berinchyk in an attempt to capture a title in a fourth weight class. The card also featured 19-year-old phenom Curmel Moton, a protege of Floyd Mayweather. Before turning professional, Moton built an extensive amateur record of 156-7 and captured over 18 titles. Moton's win improved his undefeated professional record to 9-0, with seven of those victories coming by way of knockout. His fight against Flores took place at the Turning Stone Resort and Casino in Verona, New York, as part of a card presented by Manny Pacquiao Promotions.
