Beijing retools industrial park for culture

Shougang Park in Beijing has added a digital creativity center that layers industrial heritage with AR and tech exhibits — a pilot for mixing history with immersive urban cultural programming site post.

The new venue carries the official name RE International Center for Digital Creativity. (english.visitbeijing.com.cn) It occupies Warehouse No.4 inside Shougang Park [opening hours listed as Tuesday–Sunday, 09:30–17:00] (english.visitbeijing.com.cn) and sits beside the park’s north silo 7 landmark. (english.beijing.gov.cn) The warehouse hosted the Metaverse Innovative Product Experience Season from June 28 to August 31, 2024, marketed as a large-scale metaverse exhibition. (english.beijing.gov.cn) Shougang Park also staged the launch ceremony for the 2024 Beijing Digital Economy Experience Week on June 27, 2024, using the site to showcase digital consumption initiatives. (shougang.com.cn) On March 29, 2025, the Creativity 2030 — 4th International Forum took place at Shougang Park, drawing more than 150 participants from countries including Australia, Austria, Canada, France, Germany, Switzerland, the United Kingdom and Vietnam. (english.beijing.gov.cn) Foreign diplomats who toured the park later praised the “digital technology + cultural heritage” approach as a replicable model for cultural redevelopment, according to a Shougang-hosted briefing for visiting delegations.
