WXPN drops local RSD comp
WXPN’s Homegrown Originals Volume 4 is headed to Record Store Day on vinyl, with The Hooters leading a Philly‑centric compilation meant for collectors of local scenes. (thatericalper.com) The release is positioned as a limited pressing—good pickup if you track regional compilations and provenance. (thatericalper.com)
WXPN plans to distribute Homegrown Originals Volume 4 exclusively over the counter at independent shops on Record Store Day, Saturday, April 18, 2026. (xpn.org) The 11-track vinyl comp’s full sequence runs from The Tisburys’ “The Anniversaries” through Reef The Lost Cauze’s “Old Boy,” with contributions from Queen of Jeans, Maxwell Stern & the Good Light Band, Sadie Gust, The Caufields, Mackenzie Johnson and others. (gratefulweb.com) WXPN says the Hooters’ inclusion ties to the station’s Free At Noon 1,000th show, and vocalist Rob Hyman commented on the band’s longstanding relationship with the station. (xpn.org) The LP will be handed out only as a free-with-purchase promotional item at 13 participating stores in the region, including Bethlehem’s Compact Disc Center and listed independents such as A Day In The Life Records and Blue Raven Record Shop. (xpn.org) WXPN is marking the release with a Homegrown Live! showcase on April 23 at World Stage (formerly World Cafe Live) featuring Black Buttafly, Denison Witmer and John Faye & friends; free tickets are being offered by the station. (xpn.org) Past Homegrown Originals pressings have been deliberately small — the 2023 WXPN Homegrown Originals drop was limited to 300 hand-numbered copies — underscoring why this Volume 4 release is being promoted as a scarce, in-store collectible.
