Spring Museum Exhibitions Launch Soon

SJIMA's Spring 2026 exhibitions featuring art, science, and whimsy by three artists launch March 6, while the Mütter Museum's "Revolutionary Botany" opens March 4 with ticket inclusion. The RBA 2026 Annual Exhibition is now open at Mall Galleries until March 7, and Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen hosts two new exhibits opening March 19 with free admission.

The San Juan Islands Museum of Art (SJIMA) will showcase three artists working in distinct media. Lauren Boilini uses oil on linen to create large-scale paintings of birds and insects, while Janis Miltenberger sculpts with glass, and Dan Brown works with iron, wood, and found objects. Themes at the SJIMA exhibits range from Boilini's exploration of excess and societal abundance to Miltenberger's focus on grief, healing, and whimsy through sculptures of marine life and medicinal plants. Brown's work reflects a deep appreciation for sustainability and includes watercolor paintings from his book "Fictitious Trout." The Mütter Museum's "Revolutionary Botany" exhibit is part of a larger commemoration of the nation's 250th anniversary. It specifically examines how the scientific classification of plants in the pre-Revolutionary era laid the groundwork for the first American pharmacopoeia, transforming the study of medicinal botany. The Royal Society of British Artists (RBA), founded in 1823, will present works from its members alongside non-members selected from thousands of entries. The annual exhibition offers over £20,000 in prizes, including the prestigious £10,000 Huaicun Zhang Award for a work of exceptional quality. A special feature at the RBA exhibition is the "Rising Stars" exhibit, which showcases artists under 35. This year's display includes work from the winner of the 2025 RBA Rome Scholarship, Ken Nwadiogbu, a Nigerian-born, London-based multidisciplinary artist, who will also participate in a public talk. The Cultural Arts Center at Glen Allen's event will unveil exhibitions across its four distinct galleries. One of the featured shows is "The Jacey Gallery's Spring 2026 Student Exhibition," which will present artwork from students ranging in age from kindergarten through adult.
