Miami Wellness Cafe 'Pura Vida' to Open in Tampa
Pura Vida, a Miami-based wellness-focused cafe, will open a new location in the Water Street Tampa development. The new restaurant will be situated at 1038 Water Street, next to Wagamama.
- The café was founded in Miami Beach in 2012 by husband-and-wife duo Omer and Jennifer Horev, who both previously worked in real estate before pivoting to the wellness and lifestyle brand. - Pura Vida has undergone a significant expansion, growing from a single location to over 40 across Florida, New York, and California. The company received a growth investment from private equity firm TSG Consumer Partners in November 2025 to fuel its growth. - The menu focuses on health-conscious items such as acai bowls, smoothies, all-day breakfast, salads, and wraps, using locally sourced and organic ingredients where possible. Plans filed for the Tampa location indicate the use of electric rapid-cook ovens instead of open-flame cooking. - The location is within Water Street Tampa, a 56-acre, multi-billion dollar development from Strategic Property Partners, a joint venture between Tampa Bay Lightning owner Jeff Vinik and Bill Gates' Cascade Investment. - The first phase of the Water Street Tampa development has created a significant economic impact, generating $520 million in annual economic output and adding nearly 6,000 permanent jobs to the area. - Water Street Tampa is the world's first neighborhood to be WELL-certified, a designation that recognizes a community's commitment to the health and well-being of its residents and visitors through design and operations. - The new Pura Vida will occupy a 4,209-square-foot interior space with an additional 562 square feet for an outdoor patio and pergola, joining other national brands in the district. This opening represents a continued expansion for the brand on Florida's Gulf Coast, following the opening of two Sarasota-area locations since 2024.
