Turkish Restaurant Bosphorous Opens in St. Pete
Bosphorous, a Turkish restaurant, has opened a new 5,000-square-foot location in the EDGE District of St. Petersburg. The restaurant, which features traditional Turkish cuisine, is expected to be a popular new dining destination for the area.
- This St. Petersburg outpost is the largest Bosphorous location to date, spanning 5,200 square feet. - The restaurant is a key part of the EDGE Collective, a mixed-use development that also includes the recently opened 163-room Moxy Hotel by Marriott. - Diners have the option of outdoor seating along Central Avenue or in a courtyard that is shared with the neighboring Moxy Hotel. - Owners Doved and Tammy Sexter, both veterans of Darden Restaurants, acquired the Bosphorous brand in 2009 and have since expanded it from its original Winter Park location to several cities. - The interior design features authentic Turkish decor, including ebru paintings, silk carpets, and mosaic lamps, with much of the furniture and decor imported directly from Turkey. - A custom-made, copper-clad oven is a centerpiece of the restaurant, used for baking their signature lavas bread. - The menu focuses on traditional dishes from Central Anatolia, and co-owner Doved Sexter notes that approximately 85% of their ingredients are imported from Turkey. - This is the latest of several locations for the Central Florida-based restaurant, which also operates in Winter Park, Dr. Phillips, Lake Nona, Winter Garden, and Tampa.
