Paris Baguette Expands in Texas

Global bakery café chain Paris Baguette opened its newest location in Richardson, Texas, on February 27. The opening is part of the brand's rapid U.S. expansion, as it aims to grow its footprint of over 4,000 units worldwide.

The ambitious U.S. expansion is part of a larger goal to reach 1,000 locations in the United States by 2030. This push is supported by strong sales growth, with the company experiencing a 44% year-over-year increase in U.S. sales in 2021 and 19 straight quarters of positive same-store sales. To fuel this growth, Paris Baguette has broken ground on its first North American manufacturing facility in Burleson, Texas. This more than $200 million, 267,000-square-foot plant is expected to create around 450 local jobs and will centralize dough production to ensure consistency across its cafes. The facility is slated to begin production in 2027. Though its name evokes the French capital, Paris Baguette is a South Korean brand owned by the SPC Group, a major food and confectionery conglomerate. Founded in South Korea in 1988, the chain has grown to over 3,600 locations in its home country. The company first entered the U.S. market in 2005, initially focusing on areas with large Korean-American populations in New York and California. It began franchising in 2015, which has significantly accelerated its nationwide growth. The brand is now expanding into suburban areas and targeting lifestyle centers for new locations.
