Crown Lands Unleashes 19-Minute Live Epic
Canadian progressive rockers Crown Lands released a live video for their 19-minute epic "Apocalypse," showcasing a tour de force of progressive rock musicianship. The performance demonstrates the duo's ability to sustain complex compositions while maintaining audience engagement throughout the extended runtime. The live video captures the intensity and technical prowess that's made them standouts in the prog scene.
"Apocalypse" is the 19-minute title track from Crown Lands' upcoming album of the same name, set for release on May 15th, 2026. The album is designed as a complete narrative experience, unfolding as a story set in the same universe as their 2023 album "Fearless". This isn't the band's first foray into long-form compositions; their album "Fearless" features the 18-minute epic "Starlifter: Fearless Pt. II". That album was recorded with producer David Bottrill, known for his work with Rush, Muse, and Tool. For the upcoming "Apocalypse," they collaborated with both Bottrill and Nick Raskulinecz, who also has a history of working with Rush. The duo, consisting of vocalist and drummer Cody Bowles and multi-instrumentalist Kevin Comeau, has been compared to Rush for their complex sound created by just two musicians. Their lyrical themes often explore Indigenous futurism, blending sci-fi elements with the real-world issues faced by Indigenous peoples. Crown Lands won a JUNO Award for Breakthrough Artist of the Year in 2021. Their albums "Crown Lands" (2021) and "Fearless" (2024) were both nominated for Rock Album of the Year at the JUNOS, and their 2025 album "Ritual II" received a nomination for Instrumental Album of the Year.
