Guardforce AI Extends Partnership with Sportswear Brand
AI solutions company Guardforce AI has announced an extension of its partnership with the Thailand branch of a major global sportswear brand. The company will continue to provide smart retail business solutions. The deal signals ongoing investment in AI-driven automation and robotics within the retail sector.
Guardforce AI's smart retail solution merges AI-powered video analytics from CCTV with RFID-based inventory management systems. This combination is designed to reduce theft, decrease inventory errors, optimize store layouts for sales, and accurately link foot traffic with sales performance. The partnership extension will see Guardforce AI's technology deployed in five more of the brand's Thai stores in 2026 and another in 2027. This builds on a previous rollout of AI camera systems across 13 stores in 2025, which followed a successful proof-of-concept trial earlier that year. This deal highlights Guardforce AI's strategic shift from its legacy as a secured logistics provider—primarily in cash-in-transit and ATM services—to a technology-focused company centered on higher-margin AI and robotics. The retail sector has now overtaken banking as a primary area of focus for the company. The company's CEO, Lei (Olivia) Wang, noted that these smart solutions could be deployed across many of the 5,000 retail stores Guardforce AI already serves through its logistics business. This existing client base presents a significant pathway for upselling its new technology services and driving revenue growth. The expansion is occurring as AI adoption rapidly reshapes Thailand's retail and e-commerce landscape, a market valued at approximately $5 billion. Local consumer behavior shows a growing reliance on AI for product searches and comparisons, indicating a receptive market for such tech-driven store enhancements. Guardforce AI's offerings are powered by its proprietary Intelligent Cloud Platform (ICP), which integrates its various AI and robotics applications. The company also operates on a Robot-as-a-Service (RaaS) model, part of its broader push into automation and tech-enabled services.
