Taylor Swift Reclaims Billboard #1

Taylor Swift's "Opalite" returned to No. 1 on the US Billboard Hot 100 for the week of February 28, marking the track's 20th week on the chart. Globally, the song surged to No. 2 on the World Singles Top 40 and earned "greatest gain" recognition. Bad Bunny's "Dtmf" continues dominating at global #1 for 34 consecutive weeks.

"Opalite" is the second single from Taylor Swift's twelfth studio album, *The Life of a Showgirl*, which was released on October 3, 2025. The track was co-written and co-produced with frequent collaborators Max Martin and Shellback, continuing a long-standing creative partnership. The song's recent chart momentum was significantly boosted by its music video, which Swift wrote and directed. Released on February 6, the video was noted for its 1990s rom-com aesthetic and was shot on film by cinematographer Rodrigo Prieto. With "Opalite," Swift secured her 14th career No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, tying her with Rihanna for the third-most chart-toppers in history, behind only The Beatles and Mariah Carey. This also marks her ninth No. 1 single of the 2020s, more than any other artist this decade. The achievement makes *The Life of a Showgirl* Swift's first album to generate two U.S. number-one hits since *1989* was released in 2014. The album's lead single, "The Fate of Ophelia," previously spent ten weeks at the top of the Hot 100. The globally dominant track, Bad Bunny's "Dtmf," comes from his album *Debí Tirar Más Fotos*. The album recently made history by winning the Grammy for Album of the Year, a first for a Latino artist. "Dtmf" is a blend of reggaeton with traditional Puerto Rican folk music known as "plena." This fusion of modern and traditional rhythms has been credited with the song's widespread critical and commercial success.
