First Dogecoin ETF Lists on Nasdaq

The first Dogecoin ETF is now live, with 21Shares listing its $TDOG spot ETF on the Nasdaq. This provides a regulated, institutional-grade on-ramp for investors to gain exposure to the world's largest meme coin, potentially opening the door for significant new capital inflows.

The arrival of a spot Dogecoin ETF follows the precedent set by the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission's approval of spot Bitcoin ETFs on January 10, 2024, and subsequent Ethereum ETFs. This new fund, however, marks the first time a meme coin has been packaged into such a regulated investment vehicle in the U.S., a significant step in legitimizing assets born from internet culture. The issuer, 21Shares, is a Swiss-based firm with a history of pioneering crypto exchange-traded products (ETPs). Co-founded in 2018 by Hany Rashwan and Ophelia Snyder, the company listed the world's first physically-backed crypto ETP on the SIX Swiss Exchange the same year. As of late 2025, 21Shares managed over $11 billion in assets across dozens of listed products before being acquired by digital asset prime brokerage FalconX. Institutional interest in meme coins has been quietly growing, driven by their high liquidity and strong community engagement. The introduction of a regulated ETF is seen as a way to provide structured exposure to this volatile market, potentially attracting more conservative institutional capital that was previously unable or unwilling to hold the underlying assets directly. The approval of a spot Dogecoin ETF signifies a potential shift in the regulatory landscape, making it easier for other alternative cryptocurrencies to gain mainstream financial access. Following a key SEC rule change that allows for generic listing standards for crypto ETFs, the review timeline for new products can be reduced from over 240 days to a maximum of 75. This has paved the way for a wave of new filings for ETFs tracking other popular tokens.
