Union City to Host Black History Art Showcase

A new art showcase highlighting Black History is scheduled to take place in Union City. The event is one of several community gatherings planned in the Fremont area. It offers local residents an opportunity to engage with and celebrate local arts and culture. source

- The showcase is scheduled for Saturday, February 21, 2026, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM at Studio 11. - The event aims to highlight the contributions of African Americans to art, science, and culture throughout American history, and will feature art, stories, poetry, and music. - Local artists wishing to participate must submit their work by February 6, 2026. - This art showcase is one of several Black History Month events in the area; nearby Fremont will host a celebration with traditional African dance and music on February 27, 2026. - The City of Fremont is also officially recognizing the month by displaying the Black History Month flag outside City Hall. - Another local event, organized by the Afro-American Cultural & Historical Society, will take place in Newark on February 14 to honor the past and embrace the future of Black history. - The showcase in Union City is part of a series of community events that also includes a Senior Lunar New Year Celebration and a BART Mural Project Community Forum in February.
