RAK Launches 24/7 Food Safety Campaign
Ras Al Khaimah has launched a round-the-clock food safety campaign ahead of Ramadan, focusing on temperature control and safe storage compliance. The emirate is also offering G-FORCE aerobatic passenger flights in EXTRA 330 stunt planes with flexible cancellation options. Direct flights from RAK to Abu Dhabi are available from 1,118.44 AED.
- The campaign is managed by the Ras Al Khaimah Department of Municipality's Public Health Administration and will operate through three continuous operational shifts to ensure constant supervision. - Inspectors are prioritizing high-risk establishments such as traditional kitchens, hypermarkets, automated bakeries, and confectionery shops due to their direct impact on consumer health. - Penalties for food safety violations will follow a structured escalation process, beginning with warnings and fines, and potentially leading to temporary suspension or administrative closure for severe or repeated offenses. - In the first half of a recent year, the Public Health Administration conducted 7,882 inspections, which resulted in 1,579 violations and 3,320 warnings. - During that same period, 5.87 tonnes of food products that were expired or spoiled were confiscated and destroyed to prevent them from reaching consumers. - As part of its awareness efforts, the municipality organized pre-Ramadan workshops for food handlers and safety officers to promote best practices in food safety. - While restaurants are permitted to serve food during daytime hours in Ramadan, the campaign strictly prohibits the display of food outside of commercial premises. - This initiative is part of a broader UAE goal to reduce food waste by 50 percent by the year 2030.
