Rainfall Health Raises $15M for CMS Tool

Digital health startup Rainfall Health has raised $15 million in a Series A funding round. The company is developing a platform to help hospitals navigate the new Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) payment model. The funding signals continued investor interest in technologies that aim to simplify administrative tasks and streamline compliance in healthcare operations.

- The investment round was led by Two Bear Capital, bringing Rainfall Health's total funding to $18 million. - Rainfall's platform is designed to help hospitals comply with the new mandatory CMS payment model called the Transforming Episode Accountability Model (TEAM), which launched on January 1, 2026. - The TEAM model is a bundled payment program that holds 741 selected hospitals financially accountable for the total cost and quality of care for an entire surgical episode, including the 30 days after discharge. - This new model specifically targets five high-cost, high-volume surgical procedures: lower extremity joint replacement, spinal fusion, coronary artery bypass graft, major bowel procedures, and hip/femur fracture treatment. - By successfully meeting TEAM's quality metrics, hospitals can increase revenue from these surgeries by up to 20%, which could yield more than $100 million in new revenue for a large health system. - Rainfall Health, led by CEO and founder Eddie Qureshi, will use the funds to expand its AI and customer support teams and further develop its platform that integrates with hospital EHRs to automate complex regulatory requirements. - The company's AI-driven platform, known as R.A.I.N. Compliantâ„¢, aims to help hospitals maximize incentives under the new model, potentially unlocking up to $85 million in new Medicare revenue per hospital over five years. - Rainfall Health has an advisory committee that includes executives from prominent healthcare organizations such as the VA, Kaiser Permanente, UPMC, and Mayo Clinic.
