Michelin has added nine New York City restaurants to its 2026 guide so far, while São Paulo’s Evvai and Tuju just became Latin America’s first three-star picks. Brooklyn’s group includes Entre Nous in Clinton Hill, Los Burritos Juárez in Fort Greene, Bong in Crown Heights, Vato in Park Slope, and I Cavallini in Williamsburg. (guide.michelin.com) (ny.eater.com) Michelin’s Manhattan additions include Le Chêne in Greenwich Village and Hwaro in Midtown West, with the full round presented as restaurants that have “won over” inspectors before stars and Bib Gourmands are announced at the annual ceremony. Michelin says it adds new establishments to the selection twice a year and marks them with a “New” symbol in its app and on its site. (guide.michelin.com) That makes the New York list a watchlist, not a final award slate. Michelin says stars and Bib Gourmands are revealed later, and the spring additions are early signals about where its inspectors are eating now. Evvai and Tuju, both in São Paulo, moved up to three stars in the same edition. (guide.michelin.com) Michelin’s three-star label is its top rating, reserved for restaurants it considers “worth a special journey,” while two stars mean “worth a detour.” In the 2025 Brazil guide, Evvai and Tuju had held two stars alongside D.O.M. in São Paulo and Lasai and Oro in Rio de Janeiro. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) The 2026 Brazil guide kept 149 selected restaurants in total and added 12 new establishments, Michelin said. Inspectors described Evvai chef Luiz Filipe Souza’s menu as a dialogue between Brazilian and Italian influences, and Tuju chef Ivan Ralston’s restaurant as a progressive tasting experience built around seasonal products. (guide.michelin.com 1) (guide.michelin.com 2) (guide.michelin.com 3) The two updates land in different stages of Michelin’s calendar: New York is still in teaser season, and Brazil has already handed out its top prize. For diners, that means nine New York restaurants are now in contention, while São Paulo already has the region’s first pair at the very top of the guide. (guide.michelin.com) (guide.michelin.com)
