Fremont’s downtown arts month will end with a free pop-up market and makerspace on Sunday, April 26, at the Downtown Event Center and Plaza. (fremont.gov) The event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. at 3500 Capitol Ave. and is billed by the City of Fremont as the Fremont Creates Pop-Up Art Market. (fremont.gov) Fremont Creates said more than 20 local artists will sell directly to the public, while a makerspace for kids of all ages returns alongside two new adult art workshops for ages 15 and up. (tricityvoice.com) Organizers also said the market will include live jazz and an outdoor performance by Wadaiko Newark taiko drummers. (tricityvoice.com) The April 26 event is the closing program for Fremont’s April is Arts, Culture & Creativity Month, a citywide slate of arts programming promoted through Fremont Creates. (fremontcreates.com) Fremont Creates has framed the pop-up market as a new addition this year, with the market joining returning hands-on activities as part of the month’s finale. (fremontcreates.com) City notices describe the event as free, and a city newsletter said it will feature artists selling works, workshops and a makerspace in one downtown venue. (content.govdelivery.com) The venue itself is a 13,400-square-foot community center with a one-acre plaza at Capitol Avenue and State Street, giving the event indoor and outdoor space in the middle of downtown. (510families.com) Fremont Creates also scheduled a free “Downtown Dance” event at the same venue on Saturday, April 25, turning the final weekend of April into a two-day arts push in the city center. (tricityvoice.com) For Fremont artists, the market is also a direct-sales event: the Fremont Creates registration page invited local artists to display and sell work and required a refundable $50 deposit from participants. (fremontcreates.com) By Sunday afternoon, Fremont’s monthlong arts campaign is set to end the way it started: with city-backed programming aimed at pulling residents into the new downtown core.
